Sited
on a wooded waterfront property this year round weekend house was designed as
a vertical element with a sweeping roof and many windows to maximize the panoramic
views of the water and a compact footprint to minimize intervention on the landscape.
Working with traditional regional materials of weathered cedar clap- board,
the arrangement of windows, roof and interior organization give the house a
contemporary feel. The construction will utilize environmentally sensitive methods
such as SIP panels and geo thermal heating. Emphasis is placed on the connection
between interior and exterior spaces with kitchen and dining room opening up
to the waterside, covered deck, designed as the fourth 'room' of the main public
floor.
